Lakeview High School volleyball girls faced Burns teams twice this past week, Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Saturday., Sept. 7, losing both times but holding the Hilanders at 25 to 11 for their worst games.
Lakeview High School first hosted a home match versus Burns, with the Burns Hilanders taking the win after winning the first two games, losing a third, and coming back to win the final fourth game.
Most every game was close and exciting, with Lakeview girls managing to return many of Burns’s quick spikes. The Hilanders eventually managed to push through, though, leaving Lakeview with a loss for their first match of the season.
Lakeview’s second home game saw the Klamath Union Pelicans come from Klamath Falls to give the Honkers a very close match on Thursday, Sept. 5. Lakeview girls won three games out of 5, the Pelicans defeating them in both the second and fourth matches. Delaney Hall was able to pull off a number of successful spiking ‘kills’ which helped lead the Honkers to victory.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the varsity girls left for a tournament in Burns, where they played against the Burns team once again after splitting games with Baker, and losing to Vale and Nyssa. The tournament’s early matches served to seed teams for bracket play which brought the Honkers up against Burns.
