Employees of Warner Creek Correctional Facility received special recognition in a Tuesday, May 6, ceremony that celebrated National Correctional Officers and Employees Week.

The ceremony celebrated staff members on both a yearly and quarterly basis, and also recognized employees for years of service.

“The vision of Warner Creek Correctional Facility (WCCF) is, ‘Staff dedicated to excellence while serving the Lake County community and purposefully engaging inmates that they become productive citizen,’” said WCCF Supt. Steve Brown.  “During National Correctional Employees Week each year, we have the opportunity to recognize and honor some of the outstanding staff that we have for their dedication to excellence each and every day.”

Earning Employee of the Year was Tricia Stancliff, while Melissa Bucher earned the Correctional Officer of the Year award.

Lt. Brian Lee earned the honor of being named Manager of the Year.

Quarterly award honorees included Corrections Officer Bruce Goetsch, Mgr. Jennifer Peel and Kathie Leehmann, RN, as the Correctional Employee of the Quarter.

Special awards were issued to corrections officers involved with the administration of life-saving measures for an inmate that suffered a medical emergency in the spring of 2013.  Corrections officers Jeff Baker, James Mathews and Jama Lange received special recognition for their parts in this rescue, while several others received letters of commendation for their emergency assistance.

Years-of-service recognition was also a part of the ceremony, with pins issued commemorating 5, 10 and 15 years of service with the Department of Corrections.

The committee responsible for this year’s food drive was also recognized by Exec. Asst. Rebecca Hargis for their efforts in successfully raising funds and collecting food donations for the Lake County Food Share and Paisley/Summer Lake Food Share programs.
