Warner Creek Correctional Facility is hosting a food drive effort in support of the Lake County and Paisley/Summer Lake Food Share programs.

As part of this drive, several items are up for bid in a silent auction with all proceeds benefitting the food drive, said WCCF Admin. Asst. Rebecca Hargis.

The biggest item, in terms of sheer size, is a unique 13-foot trailer unit that features a barbecue grill and smoker unit, and is currently parked in the U.S. Bank parking lot.

Features for this trailer include a pull-out step and attachable stabilizers for additional safety while in use.  Double doors and 975 square inches of cooking space on the grill are also among the amenities, along with sturdy side boards for carrying ice chests, wood and charcoal briquettes.

The smoker features 9 cubic feet of smoking area with six 18-inch-by-18-inch stainless steel smoking shelves and is hinged so that it may be lowered while in transit.

Both the barbecue grill and smoker feature glow-in-the-dark temperature gauges.

The fire box measures 14 inches in width, 14 inches high and 16 inches deep with multiple dampeners.

Minimum bids start at $300 on this unit, Hargis said.

Other items include a large Lakeview canvas painting (starting bid $20) and a pair of Adirondeck chairs with end table (starting bid $50), all of which are on display at Honkers.

A handmade vanity and stool is displayed at Sterling Bank (starting bid $30), while a handmade dollhouse, complete with all necessary furnishings is on display at Washington Federal (starting bid $30).

Bidding on all these items closes at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, and takes place at each location.

A series of fundraiser have also been held by the managers and administration of the WCCF facility, including an AFC/NFC championship game score pick, Super Bowl basket silent auction, tricycle races and Valentine’s Day bake sale.

Along with the community silent auction, efforts are underway on site and across the state, Hargis said.
