Wild Goose Chase wildly successful

You can’t win if you don’t play, or so the old adage goes.

There were winners aplenty in this year’s Wild Goose Chase, a fundraiser event hosted by the Lakeview Rotary each year.

This year’s event was held on Saturday, July 13, at Drews Creek.

When it was all said and done, there were winners just as buoyant with good fortune as their little rubber aquatic counterparts.

Francis and Gail Allen, on behalf of the Open-A Ranch and Bermuda Research Corp. of Lakeview, emerged as the lucky recipient of the $10,000 gift certificate good at any of Lakeview businesses.

Judy Montgomery won the $1,000 cash prize, Darryl Anderson won a $500 fuel card from Ed Staub & Sons Petroleum, Inc., Bob Nash won a $500 ProBuild gift card, Tricia Stancliff won a $500 gift card to True Value and the 108 Gang won a $500 gift card from Safeway.

Anderson additionally won a two-night stay at Aspen Ridge Resort, while Wayne Melquist won a family swim pass from the Town of Lakeview.

Annette Shullanberger won a $250 gift card from The Niche Boutique, while Cliff Hargis landed a $200 gift certificate from Les Schwab.

In addition to the aforementioned prizes, there were also two corporate prizes, a Polaris four-wheeler ATV and a 50-inch LED television.

The owners of the Fremont Inn (names were not available by press time) won the ATV, while Al Monaco won the TV.

Lakeview Rotary Goose Chase Committee Chairman Andrew Rucker said the event gross (pre-expenses) was around $34,340.
