William Curtis (Curt) Mcadoo

William Curtis (Curt) Mcadoo, 80, died at his home Friday, June 21, 2013 following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Mcadoo was born Jan. 26, 1933 to Elic and Oleva (Harden) Mcadoo in Locust Grove, Okla.

He was raised and educated in Vallejo, Calif. and graduated from high school there in 1951.

He was a member of the Navy Reserves while he attended the CA Maritime Academy. He received a bachelors degree from the academy and entered the US Navy in 1954. Curt served 27 years in the Navy and retired as a Commander. He was also an Aircraft Carrier Pilot.

He was married to Shirley Ann Metcalf Aug. 4, 1955 in Sasebo, Japan.

Following his retirement with the US Navy he was employed with the ARCO shipping division as a 2nd. Mate transporting oil from Valdaz, Ariz. to Long Beach, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Alice Walker.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of Lakeview; son William C. “Willie” Mcadoo of Napa, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Morgen and Jim Houlis of San Luis Obispo,Calif.; grandchildren Selene and Alexandra Houlis; sisters Willene Hoverson of Anacortes, Wash., Norma MacDonald of Benecia, Calif., Micki Parisi of Auburn, Calif. and Patricia Gallez of Sun City, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard Landrith officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot at the New Pine Creek Cemetery.

The VFW Layne Clifton Post 4070 will participate in the burial services.

There will be a potluck luncheon at the family home following the burial.

Casket bearers: Stephen Metcalf, William Metcalf, Matt Sutfin, Luke Sutfin, Jim Houlis and Randy Curnow.

Honorary casket bearers: Ron Rathbone, Lee Sanders, Larry Hills, Al Monaco, Frank Metcalf and John Sutfin.

Contributions in memory of Mr. Mcadoo may be made to the Lake County Library Building Fund, 513 Center St., Lakeview 97630, the New Pine Creek Cemetery, C/O Sherrain Glenn, 928 Millview Lakeview 97630 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
