William David (Dave) Christensen, 69, died with his family at his side on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at his Lakeview home.
Dave was born March 15, 1940 in Portland to William and Eva (Edwards) Christensen.
He was raised and educated in Portland and graduated from Parkrose High School.
He came to Lakeview in l965 from Burns. He married Marilyn Cartwright July 7, 1967 in Lakeview.
Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Lakeview Town Council.
He owned and operated Christensen Sanitation Service from 1965 until the sale of the business in 2001. He was instrumental in bringing modern garbage service to Lakeview.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jack Cartwright.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Lakeview; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Paula Christensen of Lakeview; daughters and sons-in-law Lisa and Tim Howard of Dairy, Teryel and Tom Rathbone of Lincoln City, Devonne and Greg Oldfield of Bend, Pam and Larry Reeder of Lakeview; daughter Dawn Cartwright of Arlington, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Carolyn Christensen of Burns; sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Roger Samel of Portland; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one nephew and five nieces.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 at 11 a.m.. A potluck luncheon will be served in the church hall following the services. The interment will be private.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Christensen may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 104 SW Clay St.,Portland, 97201 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Honorary Casket Bearers: Heath Howard, Sean Howard, Jared McDougal, Stephen McDougal, Brad Vozza, Justin Oldfield, Drew Oldfield , Scott Stoffel Brandon O’Callaghan and Reed Christensen.
